Funeral services were held in the West Hoboken Baptist Church on Wednesday 15 November at 2 pm according to The Jersey Journal, 14 November, 1882.Mr. and Mrs. John Varick were listed as among the organizers of the First Baptist Church at Clinton Avenue and Serrell (sic) Street according to The History of West Hoboken, NJ 1609-1903 by William Drescher, Jr. In 1925 West Hoboken, NJ becameUnion City, NJ. Clinton Avenue became New York Avenue and Sorell Street became First Street.
Cause of death was senility.

The will of Daniel P Westervelt was filed in Hudson Co, NJ Oct 10, 1910 (Liber79 of wills, page 672). He left money to the Union M E Church, North HudsonHospital and North Hudson Benevelent Association connected with the Old Peoples'Home at North Bergen.Of the remainder, he bequeathed 3/4 to be divided share and share alike to JohnHenry, Mrs. Johnston (daughter Anna) and Mrs. Varick (daughter Rachel). Theother 1/4 "unto my son Lundy Westervelt, for and during the term of his naturallife, and from and upon his death I give, devise and bequeth his said share tohis wife, Antonia Westervelt, for an during the term of her natural life shouldshe survive him; upon the death of my son and his wife I give devise andbequeathe said share to my three children aforesaid....". 24. Victor Carlson
Victor appears to have immigrated to the United States between 1869 and 1876 with his wife and family. There is a Wolford Talmer (sp?) living with them in 1880that is listed as Victor's cousin. That may mean that Maria's maiden name is Talmer(sp?). The community that they are living in at that time is overwhelmingly Swedish. Their address appears to be 308 Farmby (sp?) St.
